Seeing my students grow into literate, free thinking citizens is my goal. Best Learning has allowed me to learn and practice the skills necessary to achieve this goal.Prior to arriving I was nervous, I didn’t know if the students would understand me or be able to relate to me. Most of all I was worried I would find disinterested youngsters with no interest in learning English. Once my classes officially began, I quickly learned the most valuable lesson of teaching,never underestimate your students.No matter the difficulty of the material or complexity of what was being asked, time and time again the students succeeded. I found curious, bright children who were eager to try new things and learn new skills. With patience and a positive attitude I realized I could affect these children in massive ways.

Now I push them to learn to read early and to practice often. To encourage their listening skills and imagination I read stories every class. The children genuinely enjoy these books and I can see that they are intuitive enough to grasp the story even when they don’t exactly understand the words. Eventually, I noticed a correlation between their creativity and their skill in English. With this in mind, I pushed myself to find new and exciting ways to apply English to their lives and to their dreams.

Learning to encourage this creative literacy has not been easy, but Best Learning has given me the freedom and the tools to do so. From the beginning, training here has been in realistic settings, with plenty of chances to observe how other teachers teach, in real classrooms. Our continued trainings are done in collaborative settings and realistically deal with the challenges and goals we have. Just as we ask of our students to keep open minds, we are encouraged to try new things in the classroom and to not be afraid of failure. The way the school values our skills and helps us grow as teachers is what truly makes us the Best.

Children in china study very hard, and many of them are much more stressed than I expected. It was very clear that I must provide the children with something different in order to catch their attention. My hope is that for four hours a week they will leave all that stress behind and enter a different world. A world where there isn't necessarily one perfect answer to every question, a world where they can be free to fail without fear of admonishment, and a world where learning something new feels like an exciting discovery. I have to thank our schools owner, Betty, my co-teacher Anna, my principal Lily, and most of all Best Learning, for allowing me the freedom to create this world for my students.

中国的孩子们学习非常刻苦，许多学生的课业压力比我想象的更加繁重。很明显，我必须带给孩子们一些不一样的东西，以吸引他们的注意力。我希望孩子们每周在贝乐度过的4个小时里，可以卸下所有的压力，进入到一个完全不同的世界里。在这个世界里，并不是每一个问题都只能有一个完美的答案；在这个世界里，他们能够勇于尝试，而不用担心因为失败而被训诫；在这个世界里，每一次学习新的事物，都像是一次激动人心的发现和冒险。我必须要感谢我们学校的老板Betty，我的中教老师Anna，我的校长Lily，以及贝乐学科英语的每一个人，是他们让我能够自由地为我的学生们创造一个这样的世界。
